Body Rocket raises over £200k in first 24 hours of public crowdfunding

Body Rocket, the UK start-up that’s creating the world’s first real-time aerodynamic drag force measurement device for cyclists and triathletes, has raised £203k in 24 hours of its public crowdfunding launch.

Its ‘Equity for Aero’ crowdfunding campaign invites members of the public to invest in the company ahead of its planned launch in early 2023.

Body Rocket is the world’s first commercial on-bike device capable of offering precise drag measurement directly integrated into your bike, allowing aero to move out of the wind tunnel and onto the road, where cyclists actually ride. With aerodynamic data beamed to the rider’s garmin device, cyclists can monitor and maintain their aero position without the need for guesswork – enabling free speed and a huge performance edge.

Comprising four sensors; on the handlebars, seat post, and on each pedal, the system isolates the rider from the bike. With the body accounting for 80% of drag, empowering the rider with the ability to use live data to optimise their body position provides the ultimate performance tool for anyone serious about getting faster on the bike.

In a global bike market expected to reach $147bn by 2027, Body Rocket aims to make aero accessible to millions of cyclists by bringing new tools and insights not possible before.

Having recently announced it will be entering into partnerships with Ironman and Olympic World Champion triathlete Kristian Blummenfelt, double Ironman 70.3 Champion Gustav Iden, Body Rocket is already providing aero services to some of the biggest names in the industry.

And it’s not just athletes – the company is being backed some elite names in professional cycling, including Time Trial Champion and former Hour Record Alex Dowsett, who has come on board as an investor, and Beppo Hilfiker, former VP of Cannondale, who was one of the early investors in Body Rocket.

Eric DeGolier, who came up with the idea when training as a pilot in the 2004 Paralympic Games, said: “We’re thrilled to have seen such a positive response so far, and this is definitely the right time to get involved in Body Rocket’s Equity for Aero opportunity. We truly believe that we have the capacity to change the future of cycling performance forever with this world-first product, and couldn’t be more excited to be bringing it to market next year.

“The fact we are working with some of the world’s best athletes, some of who are financially invested in the company as well, says it all. We’re about to disrupt an industry and for anyone who is into cycling, triathlon, or technology, this is a great opportunity to join us – and that’s the beauty of crowdfunding, no matter how big or small your investment is, anyone can be an investor.”

The funds raised will go to help the company prepare for its commercial launch in early 2023.
