PTO adds new duathlon races on Asian Open weekend in Singapore

The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has announced additional amateur multisport racing to its Asian Open weekend in Singapore on 19-20 August with two new Duathlon races.

This follows last month’s four-day sell out of places in its 100km triathlon race for experienced amateurs.

Registrations for the two Duathlons go on sale today at 12pm Singapore time (Thursday 30 March) and will take place over two distances: a standard 4.5km Run/32km Bike/4.5km Run and a longer 9km Run/64km Bike/9km Run. Both races offer an individual or relay option (i.e. featuring two or three people – one to start on the run, another to bike and a third to complete the second run).

“We’re excited to add additional multisport racing with these two new Duathlon opportunities for amateur athletes, which are in response to the demand we saw during registration for the 100km PTO Asian Open,” said PTO CEO Sam Renouf. “We think that demand was a great testament to Singapore as a world class sports venue and the unique opportunity to race on an iconic, closed road course around the instantly recognizable Marina Bay.

“With the world’s best female and male professional triathletes leading the way in their 100km races on the same weekend, it’s set to be a festival of endurance sport for everyone to get involved in. Whether that’s taking part or simply coming along to cheer on family, friends or our amazing professional athletes.”

Super early bird registrations will cost $128 SGD for the shorter and $178 SGD for the longer Duathlon distance races. Sign up to race here.

The Duathletes will race on a similar course to the sold out 100km PTO Asian Open triathlon that the professional and experienced amateur triathletes will tackle. They will start off with a run along Marina Bay and the famous Gardens by the Bay and then venture out on a spectacular bike course through the city centre.

The PTO Asian Open professional 100km races are part of the new PTO Tour, triathlon’s leading annual race series, which is staging high profile events in different cities around the world that pit the world’s best athletes head-to-head. Singapore will feature the top 20 female and male athletes battling it out for a $600,000 USD prize fund split equally between women and men, with the winners taking home a cool $100,000.

All the action will be broadcast live around the world to 170 territories courtesy of the PTO Tour’s partnerships with Warner Bros. Discovery and a series of other regional and national broadcasters.
