Bike tyre specialist Schwalbe has extended its Official Partnership with the National Cross-country Series and National Cross-country Championships for the 2023 season, continuing its long-standing support for the British mountain biking community.
Working with Schwalbe will enable British Cycling to continue to boost investment into the events and support the future growth and sustainability of the discipline, following the publication of the organisation’s first long-term plan for the discipline in June 2021, and its review last year.
The 2023 calendar begins this weekend with round one of the National Cross-country Series in Tong, where this year’s National Cross-country Championships will also be hosted over the weekend of 21-23 July.
Ahead of the announcement Darren Henry, British Cycling Commercial Director, said: “Following the success of Schwalbe’s Official Partnership for the 2022 season in our national cross-country events, we are delighted to continue our relationship for 2023, highlighting their commitment to the British mountain biking scene and our ambition to continue to grow the profile of events in the future.
“Our national series and championships continue to provide a vital launchpad for the country’s most successful riders on the world stage, including Tom Pidcock and Evie Richards, and we can’t wait to get another season underway this weekend in Skipton.”
Tim Ward, Marketing Manager at Schwalbe, said: “Following on from our long-standing support and association with the National Cross-country Series, we are delighted to be able to continue our support for this great race series into the 2023 season. Having launched our official title sponsorship for the series last year, we wanted to continue to build on our support for an important element of cycle sport in the UK.
“The series provides an amazing platform for competition for both older and mature riders as well as encouraging much younger riders to take up competitive racing – both male and female. With our range of XC mountain bike tyres being so preeminent in the sport, right up to the highest international level, we want to support our brand in competitive sport and of course, we value the feedback we get from our products being raced at the highest level.”
